Episode 5 gets into how alternating between activation and rest grows the window of tolerance between sympathetic and parasympathetic activations, leaving one in a ventral vagal state (parasymphathetic stimulated).

## At a Glance
- Lesser known hot springs in an infrequented region of Arizona.
- Beautiful canyon with riparian flora all along the meandering creek.
- Camping can be difficult to access and noisy. Weekends not recommended due to drunks.
## Caveats
- Pump station is loud if choosing to camp before any water crossings.
- Lots of dog noise from nearby properties, day and night, echoing though the campgrounds.
- Driving through the creek can be deep in some spots, but high clearance vehicles should be fine.
## Recommendations
- Drive as close as you can to the hot springs.
- I saw an unlifted Tacoma and 4Runner make it there no problem.
- My van made it to the first water crossing after the large campground. After that I did not want to risk anymore since my runner boards hang low. (TBD, -TBD)
## Reception
- AT&T worked great and had LTE.
- T-Mobile had cell reception but no LTE/data.
- Verizon: unknown.

This stuff puts me to sleep in a hurry and helps me sleep deeper, wake less, and dream way better. I've been using Montmorency cherry juice for years now and have finally gotten it to be a habit to use near-daily. Not only is it delicious, but it's nutritious! ;D
## Ingredients
I always choose organic when available!
- 250 ml water
- 1 tbsp tart cherry concentrate
- Examples at Natural Grocers:
[Lakewood](https://www.naturalgrocers.com/products/organic-tart-cherry-juice-concentrate-125-oz),
[Dynamic Health](https://www.naturalgrocers.com/products/shelf-stable-juices/ss-juice-concentrates/organic-tart-cherry-juice-concentrate-16-oz),
[Santa Cruz](https://www.naturalgrocers.com/products/organic-tart-cherry-concentrate-8-oz)
- 0-1 tsp sweetener (maple syrup, agave nectar)
## Directions
It's as easy as putting them into a vessel and giving it a stir, done! :)
## Notes
I make a 750 ml batch, so 3 tbsp of the tart cherry and 1 tbsp of sweetener. The sweetener is to help with the release of dopamine, expediting the falling sleep process.

This is one I make when not wanting to preserve my tart cherry concentrate.
It started because the cherry juice's lid was stuck one night and I wanted to keep the routine of making a bedtime drink, so I just doubled the amount of sweetener I had been using and it was actually very delicious without being overpoweringly sweet.
It also did the trick, it knocked me out!! I can tell it doesn't keep me asleep as well as with the cherry though, so don't expect the full results. The placebo of having a habitual drink also helps with the falling sleep. :)
## Ingredients
I recommend choosing organic when available.
- 250 ml water
- 2 tsp maple syrup
## Directions
Put both into a cup, stir, and consume!
## Notes
Subtle and sweet drink to help with dopamine release before bedtime. Be sure to rinse with water afterwards to prevent the sugars from staying in your mouth overnight! ^_^

A simple snack that I make when waiting for a real meal to finish cooking, or just a treat I enjoy when wanting a reward for keeping up good habits. Keeping a half-dozen or more blocks of shelf-stable tofu around has become really handy!
## Ingredients
- 10-12 oz silken tofu (I use a [10.8 oz shelf stable box](https://www.morinu.com/organic))
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 0-2 tbsp sweetener (maple syrup, agave nectar)
## Directions
1. Place the tofu into a bowl.
1. Add the lemon juice.
1. Optionally add the sweetener.
1. Stir until desired consistency is reached, optionally using a blender.
1. Refrigerate or warm if desired.
1. Enjoy!
## Notes
I choose to consume this at room temperature. I love the texture of silken tofu and the lemon makes it even more delectable. Most the times I don't use a sweetener, but when looking for a sweet snack this definitely hits the spot.
