# 100: Introduction to Foresting Topics
This guide is meant to cover all things regarding public lands and being a nomad.
[`hyperling.com/forest`](https://hyperling.com/forest)
# 101: Pack it in, Pack it out!
Have a plan for disposing of anything **before** you purchase it.
If smoking cigarrettes, please throw the butts away, or at minimum toss them all the way into a fire pit.
Glass, aluminum, and plastic should all be thrown in the garbage. They do not belong in a fire pit.
| OK for Firepit | Trash for Landfill |
| :---: | :---: |
| Paper | Glass |
| Cardboard | Metals |
| Food Waste | Plastics |
| Untreated Wood | Auto Parts |
Grocery sized bags can be tossed at gas stations, convenience stores, and grocery stores.
Large bags may need taken to the landfill if you cannot find anywhere that gives permissions to use their dumpster. Soem gas stations and laundromats are OK with this if you ask first. I have not had much luck with grocery stores.
Call or stop by the local ranger station if you're having difficulty finding waste management.
# 102: Pooping, with your rig.

- composting toilets

## Respect the stay limits!!
- Some think that because I'm an anarchist that I feel free to do what I want. That is the opposite of the truth. Anarchists still respect rules, it's immoral rulers that they disagree with. Be honest with how long you've been in an area. Respecting the stay limits allows others to have a chance at your campsite, prevents you from getting fines, and most importantly, shows that you care about honesty.

# 104: Sourcing Water
## Natural Springs
- findaspring.net*? [TBD/TODO]
Below are some of the springs I've had good luck using.
### Arizona
- White Mountains
- Greer : Government Spring
- Big Lake : Crescent Lake Spring
- Flagstaff
- Oak Creek Canyon : Harding Spring
### Colorado
- Idaho Springs
- [TBD/TODO]
### Montana
- {TBD/TODO}
## Reverse Osmosis
All prices listed are currently as of spring 2025.
- Natural Grocers (29c/gal if using loyalty, otherwise 35c/gal)
- Sprouts (3rd party stations, usually 50c/gal)
- Some Safeways, Basha's, Circle K's, and other convenience stores have stations outside.
- hylyte.com*? (50c/gal)
- primo.com*? (50c/gal)
- Local stores like:
- The Market in Heber AZ : Inside, 50c/gal
- {TBD/TODO} in Forest Lakes AZ : Outside, 25c/gal
- The Co-op in Los Alamos NM : Inside, 50c/gal
## Filtered / Well
- Quartzsite as stations around town selling water for 25c/gallon or 5 gallons for $1. They even have a hose to run to your rig.
- {TBD/TODO} campgrounds in Forest Lakes AZ has a $5 all-you-can-take spigot, even if it's 200 gallons for your RV.
# 105: Hygeine* & Cleanliness
- Wiping down with a washcloth.
- Solar Showers
- Creeks, Rivers, and Hot Springs
- Please rinse off before using a hot spring to bathe!! Others do not want to soak in your filth.
- I may not be the best to speak on this, as I stopped using soap on my body in 2012. A biology professor taught us that the bacteria onour skin actually helps to protect us -- much like our gut microbiome. Killing them off invites harmful bacteria to proliferate freely while the good guys must reuild their colonies. Soap should preferably only be used in localized regions for special occasions, such as spilling motor oil on your arm and needing to properly wash it off.
- Pine sap, using soil to neutralize it.
# 201: Packing Others' Trash Out
- Helps keep public lands available when others are irresponsible.
Forestry sometimes allows use of their dumpsters if you let them know you are picking up others' trash.
# 202: Pooping, in nature.
- First determine the type of pooping you will do:
- Sitting on a log, hugging a tree, squatting.
- Preparing the site.
- Making the deposit.
- Covering the deposit.
- Restoring the site.
# 203: Neighbors? Etiquette? Noise? Generators?
- Golden Rule, don't be a jerk. If you don't want your neighbors being loud, be sure that you're acting quiet as well.
- Most campgrounds wil have quiet hours from roughly 10PM to 6AM {TBD/TODO: Verify}. Treat public lands the same way. Most people don't want to hear gunshots, generators, or ATVs throughout the night. Booze fueled parties with music and shouting is disrepectful as well. Be kind to others and they're much more likely to be kind in return.
- If you have neighbors acting in impolite manners, it is okay to ask them if they can lower their volume in a courteous way. You may end up making a friend if they were unaware of their actions and find yourself a campmate for the future. If they refuse, be the bigger adult, move on to somewhere that is more your atmosphere rather than starting a childish fued.
# 204 Sourcing Power: Generators
{TBD/TODO}
- Be sure to run it at least once per month for an hour, even if you're good on power, just to keep the unit tuned.
# 302: Wiping with natural materials.
- Sticks and stones may break your bones but they also clean your booty!
- Mullein*: cowboy toilet paper.
# 303:
# 304: Sourcing Power: Solar
## Portable Units
- Usually folding type units.
## Permanent Units
- Mounted units on vans, RVs, trailers, etc.
# 402: Advanced level shit. ;)
- Stir it up to expedite composting.
# 403: Battery Banks vs Power Stations
{TBD/TODO}
# 404: Topic Not Found
